Two Chinese Nationals Killed in Karachi Blast, BLA Claims Responsibility
China condemned a blast near Karachi airport that killed two Chinese nationals and injured another, urging Pakistan to thoroughly investigate and punish the perpetrators. The explosion, deemed a “terrorist attack” by the Chinese Embassy, targeted a convoy carrying Chinese staff from the Port Qasim Electric Power Company.
Videos showed cars engulfed in flames following the attack, which occurred late on October 6, 2024. The militant group Baloch Liberation Army (BLA) claimed responsibility, stating the explosion was aimed at Chinese engineers. The BLA, seeking independence for Balochistan, has been involved in previous attacks on foreigners in Pakistan. China’s embassy urged its citizens in Pakistan to remain vigilant and strengthen security measures.
